Dr. Kubiak served as chief resident at UMMC before joining the faculty at the University of Louisville. She also serves as the director of the Internal Medicine Resident and Fellow Outpatient Practice and has been honored by the residents as an outstanding teacher in this setting. She recently became Director of Quality Improvement for the Department of Medicine. In that role, she will work to ensure that each trainee and faculty has an experiential education in the foundations of quality improvement, which will also reap benefits for patients. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish at Tulane University in New Orleans, LA, then attended medical school at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine in Coral Gables, FL. He completed residency and served as a Chief Resident at the University of Louisville. Dr. Smith sees patients at University Hospital and the University of Louisville Physicians Outpatient Care Center. He has developed a reputation in LGBT healthcare and serves on a national committee to promote diversity in internal medicine training programs. D., MPH, is an Assistant Professor in the University of Louisville Department of Medicine and serves as an Associate Program Director for the Internal Medicine training program. Olges was born and raised in Louisville and attended the University of Kentucky, where she received her medical degree. She began her residency in a combined internal medicine and pediatrics program at Vanderbilt University and completed her training at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, IL. She served as med/peds chief resident during her fourth year of residency and went on to become the pediatric chief resident the following year. At the conclusion of her chief year, she remained at Loyola University as an Assistant Professor in Hospital Medicine. Her current clinical responsibilities include serving as an inpatient teaching attending at University Hospital as well as a primary care physician at the Uof. L Physicians Outpatient Center. I chose to stay in academic medicine because I believe that the team based approach provides the best patient care, and I value the emphasis on lifelong learning. It is such an honor and privilege to work directly with the residents and help develop their medical knowledge, critical thinking and professional character. Sharpe, M. D., is an Assistant Professor in the University of Louisville Department of Medicine and serves as Associate Program Director for the Internal Medicine Training Program. He received dual Bachelor's degrees in Biological Sciences and Spanish at the University of Alabama 2. He then graduated from the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine in 2. Internal Medicine Residency and Chief Medical Residency at the University of Louisville. His clinical duties include supervising residents in both inpatient and outpatient settings at University of Louisville Hospital, as well as seeing patients in his own outpatient clinic in the Centers for Primary Care. Our residency program does an outstanding job of equipping residents with the knowledge and skills needed to be successful Internal Medicine physicians, and the fact that we can have fun every day doing it makes this program truly special. Brown, M. D., is the Chief Resident of Quality Improvement and Patient Safety. Dr. Brown earned her Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Boston University. She attended medical school at The Ohio State University then came to University of Louisville for her residency training in Combined Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. I am excited for the opportunity to serve as a Chief Resident and to share what I have learned with the residents and patients. Burk, M. D., earned a Bachelor of Science degree with honors in Biology and a minor in Medical Sociology at Indiana University- Purdue University Indianapolis.
